I love my girlfriends. Who else can you call when life with your young adults is crazy lol! I always say raising children has nothing on coaching young adults. Some of my friends have entered into grandma territory with me. Talk about uncharted waters! It’s like they aren’t sure we actually raised them. Siri is like the fairy Godmother, Google is the wise grandfather and WE are the Olivia Pope fixer when that information doesn’t pan out. The other day my girlfriend and I were literally taking turns laughing about our new identities over coffee and she said does anyone know what we do???? We are like superheroes. I just said ….. God surely knows and our capes are in heaven!
Sideline coaching can be really cool. You visit and impart when needed, kiss on sweet babies and then head on home. But it’s the unexpected that says “gotcha!” You see from college debt to the baby sitting call you get just hours before they need you, we must stay focused on the fact that yes, the job is very important and necessary. It’s not for the google driven millennial but the sweet little people that will grow up thinking you are invincible. That you sacrificed your schedule so they could play at your sugar house… when actually it was their sugar that made you smile out loud.
By the time this blog is live my #6 will be here and right behind her, #7. Yes I’ll rearrange my life, babysit when I’m exhausted and run from putting them down for naps. But one day they’ll know it was Lovey with the real cape and their parents will be mere fixers. What a beautiful life, after all…. it’s all in the view:)
